Leadership Camp has been an annual project of the Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Student Movement (MGOCSM) of North America since 2001. 11 years later, this project has grown magnificently while high school and college students continue to be enthusiastic to attend this auspicious four day camp. This camp is designed to inspire our youth and to create devoted Orthodox Christian leaders in our community. Its purpose is to light the fire in students to participate in His worship, study His Word, and be His servants. With Worship, Study, and Service as the backbone of this century old movement, we seek to continue this ministry at the 12th annual Leadership Camp. For the year of 2012, we have been blessed by our Metropolitans and the MGOCSM North American Council to host Leadership Camp in Detroit.

The Leadership Camp Detroit (LCD) committee is comprised of highly active MGOCSM members and prominent leaders from the three Orthodox churches in the Metro Detroit area. The theme for this year’s camp is “Alter Your Perception,” taken from St. Luke 17:21, “Nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” What others see as a hindrance or an obstacle in their lives, Christians should view as an opportunity for spiritual growth. Looking within ourselves and becoming more Christ-like starts with altering our perception. This theme has been adopted by the LCD committee members into our daily lives and we hope to motivate MGOCSM members across North America to do the same.

The camp will be held July 25th – July 28th, 2012 at Alma College in Alma, Michigan. We are expecting to host 150 participants including delegates, non-delegates, speakers, and clergy. This event has been a dream for the Detroit MGOCSM and we are very excited to finally make it a reality.
